#4 Go There (Field Analysis Blog, Bundle 3)

Well I couldn't exactly go to Skip Bolen's house so this will be a painfully short entry, sorry in advance. For go there I just Googled and looked at all his work online. I have no art museums near me and exhibits or anything else about Skip so I just looked at as much of his art as I could find. Since this is very short and I don't have anything to really write for this "Go There" entry I will post a few of his pictures that I really like.

#3 Ask Somebody (Field Analysis Blog, Bundle 3)

For my Ask Somebody entry, I asked my girlfriends, mom's boyfriend Stefan, who works for the Associated Press (this is who I was originally going to do my project on). I asked him if had ever met Skip Bolen and what he thought of his work. Stefan told me that he had never met Skip Bolen personally but knew of him through being in the business of photography. He said that Skip was just as a popular photographer as an Associated Press photographer because Skip takes pictures for Getty Images and Wireimage, which are also popular photo sites. Stefan also told me that he had never met Skip  personally because they take pictures of completely different things. Stefan takes pictures of sporting events and political events whereas Skip is notorious for taking pictures of musicians and the culture of New Orleans. Stefan also told he he really appreciated Skips work, he told me it was very unique and different for a photographer. Especially his pictures on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the rebuilding of New Orleans. That is all the information and opinion I got out of Stefan and he is the only person that I talked to because he is the only person somewhat close to me that knows anything about photography.

#2 Read More (Field Analysis Blog, Bundle 3)

Read more for bundle 3 was rather difficult. This is because there isn't much writing on photographers. Maybe that's because a picture is worth 1,000 words, haha. Anyways, I did as much research on Skip Bolen as possible. I looked up for books, couldn't find any. Could barely find any articles on him, basically all I could find was his photography website, Wikipedia, and his Facebook page. Basically from what I found I complied a bundle document about his biography. He's not a super well known photographer but he is pretty famous. He has a lot of his photography on Getty Images and Wireimage. He also does a lot of work for Jazz magazines and pictures for the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. From reading more I learned a lot because I hadn't known anything about Skip Bolen to begin with.
From all the things that I have read I learned he has done a lot of traveling and a lot of picture taking. He started his photography career at only age 8! His love is for taking pictures of jazz groups and the New Orleans culture, where he grew up. I learned he also does still photographs for some television shows such as True Blood and K-Ville. Even summing this up for you is about all I know too. There is not a lot of information about Skip Bolen, he is somewhat of a mysterious character. So overall, reading more did help me for my bundle because I started off knowing nothing. However, even though I did learn a lot, I didn't learn nearly as much as I thought I would.

#1 What I Know (Field Analysis Blog, Bundle 3)

What I know for this project is probably going to be a very short entry. This is mainly because I had no idea what to do this project on to begin with. I'm not aware of much art or gallery exhibits near me. I haven't really ever been much a museum goer either. So basically for this project I started off knowing nothing at all. I had to do a lot of research on art and photographers and what not to get a grip on what I was soon going to be dding an entire bundle on. Photography interests me the most in the art world so I decided to research people that did photography. There was so many so I tried to pick someone that took pictures of something that was knowledgeable by me. I was flipping through some recent pop culture magazines and I saw that a lot of photos of musicians, such as Lil Wayne were in magazines, and they were taken by a photographer named Skip Bolen, so I decided to pick him.
